Start with the crew and the signs

  1. 01

    Say hello at the lodge.

Ask which rows are open for the kind of tree you want.

  2. 02

Match the tree to the row.

Use the species names to orient yourself and follow the signs on the farm.

  3. 03

    Bring your tree back.

Head back to the baler by the lodge, then go inside to pay.

If the map and a sign disagree, check with the crew before cutting.

Plan for the ground underfoot

Wear shoes you do not mind getting muddy. Ask us about the route that will work for your group before you come.

Ask about access

  • The farm’s pathways are gravel, dirt and grass, over rolling hills.
  • Strollers and wagons are welcome. Unless the ground is completely frozen, some may be hard to push on the gravel, dirt and grass.
  • Our crew is happy to guide you to the right area, and will carry and bale your tree once you are back near the lodge.
  • The farm is not very wheelchair accessible. A wheelchair can use the gravel paths, but they can get muddy.
  • Broken Stone Lodge has a step-free entrance.
  • There is no seating along the paths.

Map questions

Still wondering about something? Send us a message and a real person will get back to you.

Is there a paper map at the farm?

No, there is no paper map. Open this page on your phone, and ask the crew at Broken Stone Lodge which rows are open.

Where do I pay?

Inside Broken Stone Lodge. A crew member bales your tree while you pay, so you can warm up with cocoa at the same time.

Can I drive out to the rows?

No, the rows are walk-only. Park in our gravel lot off Bolender Road and walk out from the lodge. We provide hand saws, plus a tarp and rope to drag your tree back to the lodge.

How far is the walk from the lodge to the rows?

It depends on where you head, since you can walk in so many directions. The farthest patch of trees is roughly half a mile from the lodge.

Where is the petting zoo?

Right behind Broken Stone Lodge.

Which rows have the tallest trees?

Look for areas marked Ready to cut with mostly large trees. Tap any area on the map to see how many of its rows have mostly large trees.
